There’s so many manhuas (or webtoons) to read these days, thanks to the popularity of Webtoon, TappyToons, and Lezhin. Whether you’re a fan of fantasy, action, supernatural, office romance, or just slice of life, there’s something for everyone.
Moreover, many webtoons have been adapted into Korean dramas and movies (True Beauty, Along with the Gods, Sweet Home, Itaewon Class, Marry My Husband, and many, many more), which has further helped skyrocket the popularity of webtoons in recent years.
Webtoon, the app, was launched internationally in 2014, that offered select few Korean titles trasnlasted in English, along with few American titles for global readers, and man what a ride it has been for the last ten, counting eleven, years. The trends, the tropes, the art, everything has changed but the stories are still fun and engaging to read. But these days, most are still updating and so you gotta wait a long time to read them.
While we’re waiting for the new ones to update, however, why not check out these completed webtoons instead? These 10 completed webtoons to read without being left on a cliffhanger, especially if you want something to binge-read on the weekends.
Completed Webtoons To Read
For The Sake of Sita
This is a short completed webtoon with a beautiful artstyle and was at the time a top ranked title on the app. The webtoon was also tried to be adapted into an anime but was met with controversy, as one can imagine. It’s a short read and even though is not how reality goes, as far as public is concerned, it’s definitely worth reading once.
Gepetto
This completed webtoon was a roller coaster ride. Every time I thought I had figured it out, there would be a new development in the plot and expanding the lore of this dystopian world. If Sci-fi Dystopia is your cup of tea, then this will be the best read, and I honestly believe this one is severely underrated.
Firebrand
A story that pulled me in because of a different art style and magical realism themes, this was also a treat for the mind. As a fan of such aesthetic and themes, I was instantly drawn to this webtoon and it reminded of The Originals but set in an alternate universe. Witchcraft is always a win in my book, so this had to be in my list of completed webtoons to read.
Winter Woods
While this one isn’t something that people don’t know about, but I still want to recommend this solely because this is so… ‘ethereal’ in it’s art, plot, characters, and overall vibes. The plot just keeps thickening, and every time you think you have it all figured out, there’s a new development. I love the changes in all characters as the story progresses and it really makes you feel like you are growing alongside them. This is one completed webtoon that I want to always see trending and popular, honestly.
Metaphorical HER
I admit, this is not what I usually read, but this completed webtoon had such a unique art style and an even unique way of storytelling that I had to read more to find out. The poetry, the message, the characters, are all such rebels that make us realize that poetry in itself is an important weapon that one can wield.
About Death
Whenever there are stories about people talking to an entity and discussing death, I will be there. I remember a Wattpad story where they had *spoilers* Cain talking to the souls of dead people just before they crossed over years ago, and so of course I will be here. The stories we read here are melancholic but life lessons nonetheless. It’s always interesting to see people’s interpretation of Death and God.
Blue
It took me some time to warm up to this webtoon, largely because it started as a teen drama and I am too old to be reading them. But a few chapters in and they also showed the future, which keeps us hooked that how did all these kids grow up and who does Juni end up with as well, and whatever happened to Jimmy and other ghosts. And I was glad to see this was a completed webtoon as I was able to finish it one go and not suffer from cliffhangers.
Ghost Teller
This completed webtoon is one that I am waiting for a new season, but I know that this will probably never happen so I am just glad that I was able to know and read this masterpiece. The stories are not horror-level scary, but just make us all realize how scary humans can be even without the existence of a ghost. This is also a must completed webtoon to read, just so I can have more people to gush over it.
Garden Club Detective Squad
I did not know what I was getting into when I started reading this. I thought it would be like Secret Seven or Famous Five, or even Nancy Drew, but it was a good balance of mystery and teenage drama. The buildup and the big reveal were satisfying and well-paced. If you like teen detective dramas that are not too dark or serious, this is perfect for a slice of life drama.
The Strange Tales of Oscar Zahn
This is another must completed webtoon to read in my humble opinion, because who doesn’t live Oscar Zahn. He’s tall, funny, and a supernatural entity with a heart of gold, what else do you even need in a man? We learn about Oscar through the chapters and honestly, what a man. I think my reason to read this is just that it’s ghostly and has a great MC.
Well, here’s the list, and what do you know, it’s mostly mystery and supernatural. There are so many more titles to check out on the Webtoon app, and many of them are now the latest and popular manhwas. A few that I am reading currently are Special Civil Servant, On My Way to Meet Mom, and Devilish Son-In-Law, and of course, some slice-of-life ones like Bluechair, Safely Endangered, Adventures of God, and My Giant Nerd Boyfriend.
I am also waiting on several more titles, but if I start listing them here it will require a whole new blog on its own. But anyways, I hope you liked my recommendations of completed webtoons to read over the weekend here, let me know if there’s any title you believe should be mentioned or that I should check out for binge-reading.
While you are waiting for that list to be posted, why not check out the History of Knitting blog I wrote, which talks about the discovery as well as the craft’s development through the ages. I’ll see you all on my next blog soon!
